The lighting is quite bad in my staircase, so please excuse the bad quality and colour of the pictures!!
All of these frames were bought at thrift stores. Most were UGLY. Lots were gold (ick), some white, some brown. I spray painted them all in black!
All photos are sepia toned. Some are matted, some not.
So, here it is!
View from my living room:
View from downstairs:
View from upstairs:
(yes, there's a frame missing on the right of that handle! One of the kids made it fall and it broke, so I have to replace it!)
Here are some close-up shots:
So as you can see, there's not only frames on here!
I have a thing for vintage keys, handles, hinges, knobs and all of that, so I've used a few of those.
I used some decorations (the round thing, as well as a tiny "window") I had found last summer, which were offwhite (as seen HERE) and now painted black.
I;ve got a tiny fireman hat bottle opener, from when DH's grandpa was a fireman.
I've got cubes with stuff in them.
I've got candle holders
Some scrapbooking supplies always were used... for "home", "family" and all the little scrolly things you see!
And YES I know some frames are still empty!! I didnt have the proper sizes of pictures so I need to get some printed... and I just never think about it! ;)
It's hard to say how much this all cost me. But considering each frame cost a dollar or less, and I have 45 or so of them... then 15$ for the cubes, 2$ for the wooden decorations (window and circle), about 5$ total for the hinges and handles, about 15$ for the picture processing and 2$ for both vases, and about 3 cans of spray paint, it comes to right under 100$ for this masterpiece wall!

wow! I like the way you mixed it all up! it looks great!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my chair re-do. I'm not great at uphostery, but it's not as hard as it looks. Pick up a freebie chair, or a cheap thrift chair, and work on it first. Use an old sheet, or something you don't need.

good luck

So beautiful! I love what you've done here! The "all I need is right here" is my fav. I still haven't found Vermont, it seems to be a tricky one. If you find yours, I'd love it. Thanks, Caro!
I just found you googling "frames on wall" because I want to do this to mine but was suddenly dumbfounded. I LOVE this. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
This is so beautiful -- and I love the added interest with the handles and stuff. GREAT idea that I will definitely borrow for my stairway going downstairs.
I LOVE this! I love any kind of gallery and this one is fantastic!

this is so beautiful, I have been collecting frames, photos and nick nacks for something similar here but yours looks truly amazing :D
WOW this is totally what I have wanted to do with my staircase but I have a "type A" DH who loves summitry and I am so not symmetrical so I get so caught up in "is this even with this" "how should I place this picture with that one" that I just give up. My question to you is where did you start? At the top of the stairs and work your way down or from Down up? or did you start in the middle,or did you just wing it? I am interested in your thoughts and love what you have done with your pictures. ~Ellen~
Do you know what color you painted your walls of staircase picture with all the beautiful black frames that go up the stairs? Love the wall color!!
I just found your blog (through Pinterest) and I can't stop reading! Everything you do is just beautiful and LOOKS so expensive. I will have to get over my fear of the Dollar Stores and consider it the new Craft Warehouse! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas, Caro. The only problem is... I don't know which one to do first. ;)

I also saw this on pinterest! Love it!! I was wondering what the wall color/brand is? I love it!
How do you figure out what goes where to make it all fit so nicely??
