Sewing Box Transformation

Months ago, in the trash, I found a great vintage sewing box.

I never took a close-up picture of it. (What was i thinking? Ugh!)
But you can see it in the picture above, just in front of the wicker vase.

It sat in my living room for a while. Not sure what to do with it.

Last week, I spray painted it white.
Nice, but not quite "there" yet.

This morning, I realized all it needed was a little distressing.

This is it now:

I loooooove it! The distressing really shows off all the details.

I will be using it for scrapbook storage. Much cuter than dollar store plastic stuff, no?!

This is my contribution for Met Monday @ Susan's @ Between Naps On The Porch!
(see, Susan! I was able to find SOMETHING for this week's party! teehee)

Very cute. You took an average sewing box and made it something special.

(By the way, I figured out the comment pop-up box setting. Thanks for the tip...I like it much better!)

Yes! That's much better and perfect for scrappy supplies! I remember having a jewelry box with that same style when I was little...great job!

Wow that looks fantastic what a difference. I belong to a shabby chic forum here in the UK and lots of the girls there have been finding these sewing boxes at bootsales and transforming them - they are ideal for any sort of storage

Ah!

Not only do you have a great eye for junk, but you know what to do with it once you have it. Love how you have transformed that plain jane sewing box. White paint and a little sandpaper can do miracles. Thanks for coming by... love your blog!

I can't believe you found that in the trash! The white paint and distressing make it look like a million bucks (ok - maybe a slight exageration but it looks fabulous).
I love it!!

Gee, I feel so boring leaving my comment in English. The other posts have so much flair! I have a box just like that that picked up at a sale. It is brown and oh, so ugly. Tine to whip out the paint!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Ahhh, now you've gone and made me sad that I passed one of these up a couple weeks ago! I know they have tons of storage, but I was too cheap to pay $7 at a barn sale. Yours looks great painted white, and you distressed it just perfectly! Love it!

Yes..much much better then a plastic storage box...and the price at "free" was the best...

I have that same sewing box, in black that I bought from IKEA 12 years ago or so! I lined the bottom of the wooden drawers with felt. I love it!
