Nautical table before and after

This summer, I found the nicest nautical themed end table.

I paid just 5$ for it.

Since I love anything beachy, nautical, it came home with me, of course!

But... it just would NOT fit anywhere in my house. 1- the dark cherry coloured wood does not fit any other wood I have. It really clashes. 2- No actual place for a table. I tried it next to my sofa to replace one I had found in the trash months ago. But it just did NOT look good!

I was sad! I loved it so much and yet had to keep it in storage because it couldnt work!

And then I had a AH HA moment!

I removed the legs (which will probably become another project! ;-) ) and kept the top and am using it as...

well, instead of telling you, I will just SHOW you! :)

Likey???

Me, I LOVE it!!

I simply spray painted it white and distressed it a bit for that cottage-y look.

It hangs in my bathroom now and everyone will be able to admire it (because, really, everyone eventually has to use the bathroom, right? ;-) )

So, what do you think???

I'm posting this to Met Monday at Between Naps On The Porch

I love seeing all of your great projects. That turned out great and looks so much better with the white distressed paint. Love it as a wall hanging...can't wait to see what you come up with next.

AhHA - Perfect! I'm always living with my junk until I figure out what else to do with it to make it ME.

It's great ... you are so creative! I rarely have "ah ha" moments ... but I'm really good at copying other's ideas ... isn't that the highest form of flattery? Thanks for sharin!

Your table looks great on the wall! You're very brave. I wouldn't have had the guts to cut those legs off! I love it!

Well isn't that just clever. I love that you didn't give up on the peice.
Thanks for the comments you left on my latest makeover.
The gel stain I used is Minwax, Walnut 606.
It says it can be used on wood fiberglass, metal and other surfaces.
I hope that helps.
(On this project I applied it liberally then took an old rag and wiped and wiped until I had the look I wanted. Also, work quickly so it doesn't begin to dry out.)

Genius! Way to think outside the box. It looks like it was meant to hang there and the whitewash looks so much better! Thanks for the comment on my topiary and I sent it on to Dollar Tree Crafts.

Ohhhhh... I love it! Wish I could have it. =) I love lighthouses and I'd like to go seaside, ships and such for my son's bedroom since he's not really a baby anymore!

Very cool table! Thanks for visiting my site. Thanks for the suggestion on the comments. I took out the word verification, and I may add the pop-up like you suggested. hopefully without the word verification it will be a little easier.
