Remember the wicker vase I got in the trash last week? see HERE
I spray painted it off white, and then painted the metal base and rim dark brown. Love it! Just wondering what to put in it? But it looks good as is anyway!
Where I used to have DH's grandpa's old fireman helmet, I put my kids plaster handprints from 7 years ago. I hung the helmet elsewhere. I love to look at their handprints. They were 7, 3 and 1 then! They're nearly 15, 10 and 8 now!
Remember that metal tray I had bought for a buck? I stands above the archway there! just love its distressed look. And to think DH wanted to polish it back to its normal state! NO WAY!
When you come in the front door, this is what you see first! There was the thermostat there and it was just UGLY! So I put up a shelf (from here) which I spray painted brown, added a frame (also from that same post), spray painted off white, in which I put a cute piece of scrapbook paper that matches my decor. 2 little wicker balls add some dimension.
And the scrolly thing on top? Nope, no wrought iron!
It's a rub-on/transfer from a Canadian company called Skribblz Art, which is also for scrapbooking. Cute no?

What a great idea to hide the thermostat that way! Mine is too much on the edge of the wall, I don't think I could do that... Perhaps you could give me ideas next time you come over?
great ideas! i love the wicker baseket. you are a talented decorator!
Everything looks great! I love the handprints! We have framed hand and footprints of our 3 from a few years ago and I'm so glad we took the time to do them.

Thanks for your comment on my metal. I have a lot of metal things outside the house that I'll try to post next week. Funny little story..when we bought our first metal...rusty...piece (did I tell you I love rust!!!)....my Mom said, 'You are going to sand and paint it aren't you."...NO MOM!!! Love your stuff!!!
Hi there, I just wanted to say thank you for stopping by "The Zoo". I wasn't even sure which blog to comment on. Oh my gosh, girl! Do you ever sleep?! Wooo!
anyway, I have seen all kinds of things here to enjoy.
That wicker basket/planter... would look fantastic w/ some tall curly willow branches. looks great as is though.
Off to explore.
